Sağlık Bakanlığı'nın 14 Şubat - 1 Mart tarihleri arasında, 16 kentte, 15 yaş ve üzeri bin 331 kişiyle yaptığı ankete göre, Türk Halkı'nın yüzde 85'i işyeri ve kamuya açık alanlar ile alışveriş merkezi gibi kapalı alanlarda, "sigara içilmemesini" destekliyor. Yüzde 75'i ise bu uygulamaya "kuvvetle" destek verdiğini belirtiyor. Öte yandan, Türk halkının yüzde 91'i pasif olarak sigara dumanına maruz kalmanın insan sağlığı açısından ciddi tehlike oluşturduğunu biliyor. Genel itibarıyla, Türk halkı tüm işyerlerinde ve kamuya açık yerlerde sigara ve tütün ürünlerinin içilmemesini destekliyor. Yasa tüm bölgelerde ve tüm nüfus grupları çapında kuvvetli destek görüyor. Sigara içenlerin bile yüzde 63 oranında çoğunluğu genel itibarıyla yasayı destekliyor. Türk halkının yalnızca yüzde 14'ü sigara ve tütün mevzuatına karşı olduğunu belirtiyor. Türk halkının yüzde 90'ı, yasanın bürolar ve iç mekanda yer alan diğer işyerleri dahil olmak üzere geniş bir yelpazeye dağılan metro, havaalanları, mağazalar gibi iç mekanda yer alan kamuya açık yerlerde, yüzde 75'i restoranlarda, yüzde 63'ü de barlarda sigara içilmesini yasaklayan hükümlerini de destekliyor.

On kişiden dokuzu, pasif olarak sigara dumanına maruz kalmanın sağlık açısından çok ciddi veya oldukça ciddi bir risk olduğunu düşünüyor. Anket sonuçları Türk Halkı'nın sigara içilmeyen bar ve restoranlardan hoşnut kalacağını gösteriyor. Ankete katılanların yüzde 81'i, sigara içenlerin de yüzde 65'i dahil olmak üzere, tütün dumanı solumadan restoran ve barların keyfini çıkarmanın hoş olacağını düşündüklerini söylüyorlar.

The conclusions of the survey show that Turks are pleased with cigaretteless bars and restaurants. 81% of those that participated in the survey, and 65% of cigarette smokers, said they would be pleased with restaurants and bars they could enjoy without having to breathe in cigarette smoke.
