Zugdidi (Georgian and Mingrelian: ზუგდიდი) is located just a short distance from Abkhazia, the other breakaway region in Georgia and the one that is benefiting the most from this war.

A short piece of news translated from Turkish from habervitrini.com. This news is good to see because if Russia is leaving a place as easy for them to hold as Zugdidi then perhaps they mean it when they say they have no intention to remain in Georgia proper.

Gürcistan Savunma Bakan Yardımcısı Bato Kuteliya, Rus birliklerinin, ülkenin batısındaki Abhazya yakınlarındaki Zugdidi şehrinden ayrıldığını bildirdi.

Kuteliya ayrıca, Rus birliklerinin, ayrılıkçı Güney Osetya sınırındaki Gori kentinden de kısa zamanda ayrılmasını beklediklerini belirtti.
Kuteliya also said that Russian units were awaiting a move out in short time from the city of Gori, on the border of the separatist region of South Ossetia.
