War in South Ossetia: Russia bombs pipeline in Georgia (but no damage) / Rusya boru hatlarını bombaladı (ama hasar görmedi)

Uh oh, I was worried about this (even though it doesn't seem to be verified yet). The pipeline is located in the far south of the country but depending on the situation it might not be that hard to bomb a section of it. The BTC pipeline was the first major pipeline in the region that had nothing to do with Russia, and thus removed a bit of leverage Russia has with Europe. Here's the source.

Gürcistan'dan geçen transit boru hatlarının bombalandığı, ama hasar görmeği bildirildi.

A transit pipeline passing through Georgia was bombed, but there was no damage.

Gürcistan Başbakanı Lado Gurgenidze, ülkesinde geçen transit boru hatlarının bombalandığını bildirdi. Gurgenidze, "Buna rağmen boru hatları hasar görmedi ve çalışır durumda." dedi.

The prime minister of Georgia Lado Gurgenizde said that a transit pipeline passing through the country was bombed. Gurgenidze said that "nevertheless the pipeline saw no damage and is in working order."

The Georgian prime minister said in a national adress that "This pipeline was bombed in spite of the fact that it is being used in transit and of the effects on the functioning of the economy of Georgia. The pipeline saw no damage."

Öte yandan Gürcistan Ekonomik Kalkınma Bakanı Ekaterina Sharashidze, Rus jetlerinin Bakü-Tiflis-Ceyhan (BTC) petrol boru hattına saldırı düzenlediklerini, ancak hedefi vuramadıklarını söyledi.

Meanwhile Georgia's Economic Development Minister Ekaterina Sharashidze said that Russian jets arranged an attack on the Baku-Tbiliti-Ceyhan (BTC) Pipeline, but that it did not reach the target.

Basın toplantısı düzenleyen Bakan, “Bu, Rusya'nın sadece Gürcistan'ın ekonomik pazarını değil, Gürcistan'daki uluslararası ekonomik pazarı da hedef aldığını gösteriyor” diye konuştu.

In a press conference, the minister said that "This shows that Russia is taking aim not just at Georgia's economic market, but at Georgia's international economic market as well."

Rus uçaklarının, BTC'yi hedef alan bir saldırı düzenlediği yolunda uluslararası kaynaklardan henüz bir doğrulama yapılmadı.

No verification has yet been made from international sources that Russian planes have arranged an attack on the BTC Pipeline.
