Norwegian Aftenposten: Palin is dangerous / Palin er farlig

I like to try to find as many opinion pieces in other countries on the upcoming election as possible. Turkey, for example, places more importance on any possible administration's view on Armenia than most other issues that might be valid. Here's what the Norwegian Aftenposten has written today on Palin.

Mange ble overrasket over McCains valg av Sarah Palin som visepresidentkandidat. De fleste mener at det var for å tiltrekke personer, spesielt kvinner, som stemte på Hillary.

Many were surprised over McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as vice-presidential candidate. Most believer that it was to attract people, especially women, who voted for Hillary.

Men Palin er ingen ny Hillary. Hun har veldig lite erfaring, hun ble valgt til guvernør for Alaska for bare et og et halvt år siden. Før hun var guvernør, var hun borgemester i den lille byen Wasilla, Alaska. Hun vet ingenting om utenrikspolitikk eller økonomi, to av tingene som er aller viktigst for USA i dag.

But Palin is no new Hillary. She has very little experience, she was elected governor of Alaska barely a year and a half ago. Before she was governor, she was a mayor in the small town of Wasilla, Alaska. She knows nothing about foreign policy or economics, two things that are the most important for the United States today.

Hun er en sterk motstander av abort, selv ved voldtekt. Palin syntes at kreasjonisme, at alle mennesker stammer fra Adam og Eva og at Jorda er litt over 6000 år gammel, burde bli lært bort på skolen. Hun har jobbet hardt for å få innført lover for å kunne jakte på alle dyrearter i Alaska.

She is a strong opponent of abortion, even with rape. Palin believes that creationism, that all people stem from Adam and Eve and that the Earth is a bit over 6000 years old, should be learned in school. She has worked hard to bring in laws to enable hunting of all animals in Alaska.

Penger som kunne bli brukt til å forbedre det elendige skolesystemet i Alaska, de som har lavest prosent av folk som fullfører high school i hele USA.

(This is) money that could be spent to improve the junky school system in Alaska, the one with the lowest percentage of people that complete high school in the entire United States.

Palin har pushet for mer oljedrilling i nasjonalparkene i Alaska og saksøkte Bush-administrasjonen da de satte isbjørnen på en liste over truede dyrearter.

Palin has pushed for more oil drilling in the national parks in Alaska and sued the Bush administration when they put polar bears on a list of endangered animals.

Sara Palin støtter nesten alt som kan ødellegge Alaskas natur, og hun mener at det ikke er menneskene som har skyld i global oppvarming. Hvis McCain blir valgt til president, og hvis han dør, blir denne kvinnen president i et av verdens mektigste land.

Sarah Palin supports almost anything that can ruin Alaska's nature, and she believes that it is not humans that are at fault in global warming. If McCain is elected president, and if he dies, this wowan will be president of one of the world's most powerful countries.
