Iran begins air force operation near Turkish border

İran Hava Kuvvetleri'nin, ülkenin kuzeybatısında Türkiye sınırı yakınlarında 100 savaş uçağıyla bir hava tatbikatı başlattığı bildirildi. İran devlet televizyonu, tatbikata Amerikan yapımı F- 4, F-5 ve F-14 savaş uçaklarının, Rus yapımı Sukhoi uçakları ile havada yakıt ikmali yapabilen Boeing 707 tanker uçaklarının katıldığını duyurdu.

The Iranian Air Force has begun an air exercise in the country's northwest area near the border with Turkey, using 100 fighter planes. Iranian state television announced that participating in the exercise would be American-made F-4, F-5 and F-14 fighter planes, Russian-made Sukhoi planes, and Boeing 707 tanker planes, capable of mid-air refueling.

Tatbikatın amacının "İran'ın savunma kapasitesini geliştirmek, ordunun moralini yükseltmek ve hava kuvvetlerinin ihtişamını göstermek" olduğu dile getirildi. İsrail istihbarat kaynaklarına yakınlığı ile bilinen Debkafile sitesi, şu yorumda bulundu: "İran medyası 100 savaş uçağıyla yapılan bu tatbikatın birkaç ay önce Ege ve Akdeniz üzerinde İsrail'in 100 savaş uçağıyla yaptığı tatbikata aynen karşılık olduğunu yazıyor. İran uçakları İsrail'e kadar yakıt almadan uçuşlarını deniyor. İran'ın tatbikatında ayrıca Amerikan yapımı FBX-T anti füze radar sitemi de deneniyor." Sitede ayrıca İran İsrail arasındaki mesafenin bin 200 metre olduğu 3 bin metre yakıt ikmali almadan yapılan uçuşların İsrail'e gözdağı amacı taşıdığı iddia ediliyor.

The goal of the exercise is to "develop Iran's defensive capacity, raise army morale and demonstrate pride in the air forces". On the Debkafile site, known for its closeness to Israeli intelligence sources, was found the following observation: "The Iranian media writes that this exercise done with 100 fighter planes is meant to be the same as Israel's exercise carried out a few months ago with 100 fighter planes over the Aegean and Mediterranean Sea. Iranian planes are testing flights to Israel without needing fuel. Also tested in the Iranian exercise is the American-made FBX-T anti-missile radar system." The site also claims that the 3000 km flights without refueling are meant as intimidation given that the distance between Iran and Israel is 1200 km.
