Oettinger beer seems to be super popular in Korea

Oettinger's Hefeweißbier is (I think) a recent addition to shelves in Korea and still can't be found in that many places, but almost always sells well where it can be found. An article here from 2005 goes over why the beer is popular in Germany.
Further proof was seen at E-Mart today where I saw the following:
The single empty row is where Oettinger beer is sold. All the other (even cheaper) beer is pretty much untouched. I should have rotated two of the cans a bit before taking a picture - that brand is called Cass, not ass. You can see more Cass on the top left.
Here's a closeup of the empty row. 2,400 won = $2.15, or 1.48€.

Interesting that no one wanted to drink Budweiser.
Is German beer in South Korea brewed in Germany, or in South Korea?
If genuine, German beer were easily available in Latin America (if it follows the Rheinheitsgebot), then it would also become the most popular.
