Japanese newspaper: Companies should create web pages in Chinese in order to increase sales

Friday, July 30, 2010

An article here today in Korean reports on an article from the Nihon Keizai referencing a poll showing Chinese users to be most willing to buy online, and recommends that companies have a Chinese version of their site in order to take advantage of this even if they are not specifically geared towards selling overseas.

The poll was conducted on four countries (China, South Korea, Japan and the United States) on whether they would be willing to buy from a foreign online shopping site. The results can be seen in this image here.

In addition to this, 68% of Chinese respondents said that they hadn't bought from a foreign shopping mall, and that the main reason for this was the language barrier.

In other words, they are willing to buy but as long as it's in Chinese and is easy to navigate.
