Bild online poll: 94% want the German language embedded in the German constitution
Friday, August 06, 2010
An article here on Bild discussing the possibility of entering the German language into the German constitution has a poll below with almost 18000 responses so far, and though I haven't paid enough attention to the issue to have an opinion on the matter I voted yes in order to see the results, and was surprised to see them this skewed towards the affirmative:
Bundestagspräsident Norbert Lammert will Deutsch als Sprache im Grundgesetz verankern. Halten Sie das für sinnvoll? - Bundestag President Norbert Lammert wants to embed German as a language in the constitution. Do you think that makes sense?
Ja, das ist sinnvoll. - Yes, that makes sense.
Nein, das ist unnötig. - No, that is unnecessary.
Time to pay attention to other online and real-life polls to see if this is a general trend or just unique to Bild. This one also has a weird end date, almost a year from now. Plenty of time to be altered by one site or another with an agenda for or against.
