More on the increasing popularity of German in Europe
Thursday, August 30, 2012
Mostly fluff here but two numbers to cite:
From a report from Deutsche Welle on 28 August: the number of non-Germans that come to Hamburg to learn German has increased by 30% since 2010. Among them are always more people from countries hardest hit by the economic crisis: Portugal, Spain, and Greece.
Outside of Germany as well the numbers are increasing: in the Goethe-Institut in Madrid the number of people that have signed up for German classes has increased by 30 to 70% (depending on the course).
