Middelsprake finally starts its own group

So, there was a message on Auxlang today that went as follows:

Middelsprake (MS) is en kunstlig maked sprake dat is basered up de wichtigest levend Germanisch sprakes. De grammatika is simpel on regelmatig, wat make dat licht to lerne. Man kan forglike Middelsprake mid Interlingua, de kunstlig sprake basered af Latin/Romanisch, in dat for de meest sprekers af en Germanisch sprake, mennig af en MS tekst schal wese forstaan direkt, uter enig to lerne först. De levend Germanisch sprakes, uter Engelisch, have rund 170 miljon sprekers.

For Engelisch sprekers MS is okso mennig lichter to lerne den, sege, Dütisch, Nederlandisch oller Swedisch.

Middelsprake (MS) is a constructed language based on the main living Germanic languages. Its grammar is simple and regular which makes it easy to learn. Middelsprake can be compared with Interlingua, the Latin/Romance conlang in that for most speakers of a Germanic language, much of a MS text will be understood readily without any previous learning. The modern Germanic languages, apart from English, have about 170 million speakers. For English speakers MS is also much easier to learn than say German, Dutch or Swedish. It has a regular orthography, only regular verbs, just one gender and one grammatical case, regular plural and no umlaut.

The project Folkspraak was (is?) an attempt to do the same thing, to create something like a Germanic Interlingua, one that speakers of Germanic languages could understand at almost first sight, and that other people could learn fairly easily as well. Due to too much discussion over what exactly a language like that would be though, it eventually turned into four dialects of the same overall concept, and then everybody kind of stopped working on it for lack of a consensus.

I've always thought that IALs work well with user input but still need a single overall concept, and if possible a person or a small group of people that can make the final decision. It seems that the creator of Middelsprake has decided to start promoting Middelsprake on its own (although I see that it was created first independently of the Folkspraak project, and before it), and I wish it the best of luck. I might even try to write in the language from time to time. Here's the Yahoo! Group.

I'm going to see if I'm permitted to turn the sample mp3 into a video to put up on YouTube, and then to here to show how the language sounds. Or you could sign up to the group. I would prefer the messages there be made public though. It took me a long time before I finally capitulated and signed up to Yahoo. I've never been a big fan, but most users of Ido post there so there's no way to avoid it.
