Stratejik Bakış (Strategic View) March 27 2008, this time in English

Today I'll be providing an English translation of the same Stratejik Bakış (Strategic View) podcast from TRT radio, from March 27 2008. It's nothing special, just a bit about Gül's visit to the Balkans, but might be a bit interesting. There's one small part that's a bit muddled but that's it. Like you said, this year there have been efforts by Turkey in the Balkans.

Yaklaşık yirmi gün önce cumhurbaşkanımız sayın Gül de Romanya'yı ziyaret etmişti, ki Balkanlar'daki ilk ziyaretiydi.

About twenty days ago our republic's president Gül also visited Romania, which was the first visit in the Balkans.

Şimdi de başbakanımızın üç Baklan ülkesini kapsayan bir ziyaretini görüyoruz. Bosna-Hersek arkasından Saraybosna ve bugün başlayan ve yarın da devam edecek olan Bulgaristan ziyareti.

Also now we see our prime minister's visit encompassing three Balkan countries. After Bosnia and Herzegovina there was Sarajevo, and the visit to Bulgaria started today and continuing tomorrow.

So right now, Turkey has signed a free trade agreement with Bosnia and Herzegovina. However, the importance of this free trade agreement is that it's a more comprehensive free trade agreement than those with al other countries in the world. Which means that it was an agreement that includes agricultural products as well.

We also see one day before the visit, one day before this visit, a free trade agreement signed with Albania.
