Georgia has struck a Russian unmanned plane south of South Ossetia, according to Reuters news agency.

Rusya Savunma Bakanlığı sözcüsü vurulan uçak hakkında hiçbir bilgisi olmadığını söyledi.

A spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense said that there was no information whatsoever about an airplane being hit.

Shota Utiashvili, a spokesperson for the Ministry of the Interior, said that the unmanned plane was hit near the city of Gori (გორი) 30 kilometres from South Ossetia, saying that "It was flying in a region between the villages of Khurvaleti and Tsitelutani. We believe it was looking around the area where the Baku - Supsa oil pipeline passes through." Utiashvili said that the plane was a short-range one, and suggested that it was covering the security region a few kilometres north of Gori.

Russian authorities have given no information as to whether the plane was downed or not.
