Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's 'alternative' Christmas message with full text in both English and Persian/Farsi

Some might know about Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's "alternative Christmas message" given two days ago on Channel 4 in England. Politics aside, this is one of the few times I've seen him on the news without the annoying dubbed voice, and through a bit (okay, a lot) of searching I was able to find the speech in Persian here too, so it's perfect for those of us studying the language. The English transcript comes from here. First the video:



Then the transcript in both languages. Like most speeches it's a wee bit different from what he actually says but it's close enough.

And one peeve of mine that I've written about before: it's been over 14 years now since the internet first came to be a part of all our everyday lives, and people are still writing articles as if they were on paper with limited space, to be read by the local residents. Every article on a speech should have:
1) a link to the entire speech, and
2) a link to the entire speech in the original language if it was given in another one.

This should be standard practice by now, no exceptions.

Upon the anniversary of the birth of Jesus, Son of Mary, the Word of God, the Messenger of mercy, I would like to congratulate the followers of Abrahamic faiths, especially the followers of Jesus Christ, and the people of Britain.	ولادت حضرت عیسی ابن مریم، کلمه خدا و پیامبر رحمت را به پیروان ادیان ابراهیمی به ویژه پیروان حضرت مسیح و مردم انگلستان تبریک عرض می کنم.
The Almighty created the universe for human beings and human beings for Himself.	خداوند متعال همه عالم را برای انسان خلق کرد و انسان را برای خودش.
He created every human being with the ability to reach the heights of perfection. He called on man to make every effort to live a good life in this world and to work to achieve his everlasting life.	استعداد رسیدن به قله کمال انسانی را در وجود همه انسان ها قرار داد و از همه بشر خواست تا با تلاش و مجاهدت حرکت کند؛ هم در این دنیا زندگی سعادتمند را برپا کند و هم زندگی جاوید و ابدی آخرت را برای خودش بسازد .
On this difficult and challenging journey of man from dust to the divine, He did not leave humanity to its own devices. He chose from those He created the most excellent as His Prophets to guide humanity.	در این مسیر سخت و طولانی رسیدن از خاک تا خدا، او انسان را تنها نگذاشت؛ برجستگانی از بهترین خلق خود، پیامبران را برای هدایت انسان فرو فرستاد.
All Prophets called for the worship of God, for love and brotherhood, for the establishment of justice and for love in human society. Jesus, the Son of Mary, is the standard-bearer of justice, of love for our fellow human beings, of the fight against tyranny, discrimination and injustice.	شعار همه پیامبران دعوت به خداپرستی، عشق و برادری و عدالت در زندگی جامعه بشری است. حضرت عیسی ابن مریم پرچمدار عدالت خواهی، عشق به مردم و مبارزه با ظلم و تبعیض و بی عدالتی است.
All the problems that have bedevilled humanity throughout the ages came about because humanity followed an evil path and disregarded the message of the Prophets.	همه مشکلات بشر در طول تاریخ به دلیل دوری از این پیام پیامبران و تبعیت از شیاطین است.
Now as human society faces a myriad of problems and a succession of complex crises, the root causes can be found in humanity's rejection of that message, in particular the indifference of some governments and powers towards the teachings of the divine Prophets, especially those of Jesus Christ.	امروز هم که جامعه بشری با مشکلات فراوان و بحران های پی در پی و بسیار پیچیده مواجه است؛ علت و ریشه را باید در جدایی او به خصوص دوری برخی از دولت ها و قدرتمندان از تعالیم پیامبران الهی به خصوص حضرت مسیح دانست.
The crises in society, the family, morality, politics, security and the economy which have made life hard for humanity and continue to put great pressure on all nations have come about because the Prophets have been forgotten, the Almighty has been forgotten and some leaders are estranged from God.	بحران های اجتماعی، خانواده، بحران اخلاقی و سیاسی و اقتصادی که عرصه زندگی را بر بشریت تنگ کرده و فشارهای زیادی را به ملت های گوناگون وارد می کند؛ همه ناشی از فراموش کردن پیامبران و فراموش کردن خدا و قطع ارتباط برخی از حاکمان با آسمان است .
If Christ were on Earth today, undoubtedly He would stand with the people in opposition to bullying, ill-tempered and expansionist powers.	امروز اگر حضرت مسیح حاضر بود؛ بدون تردید در کنار ملت ها و در مقابل قدرت های زورگو و بداخلاق و توسعه طلب قرار داشت.
If Christ were on Earth today, undoubtedly He would hoist the banner of justice and love for humanity to oppose warmongers, occupiers, terrorists and bullies the world over.	امروز اگر حضرت مسیح بود؛ بدون تردید پرچم عدالت و عشق به انسان ها را در برابر جنگ طلبان و اشغالگران و تروریست ها و زورگویان عالم بلند می کرد .
If Christ were on Earth today, undoubtedly He would fight against the tyrannical policies of prevailing global economic and political systems, as He did in His lifetime. The solution to today's problems is a return to the call of the divine Prophets. The solution to these crises is to follow the Prophets - they were sent by the Almighty for the good of humanity.	بدون تردید اگر حضرت عیسی امروز بود؛ با سیاست های ظالمانه نظامات اقتصادی و سیاسی حاکم بر جهان به مبارزه بر می خواست؛ همانگونه که در زندگی خود این کار را انجام داد. راه حل مشکلات امروز بازگشت به دعوت انبیای الهی است و راه حل بحران ها تبعیت از پیامبران است که فرستاده خدا و برای سعادت بشر هستند.
Today, the general will of nations is calling for fundamental change. This is now taking place. Demands for change, demands for transformation, demands for a return to human values are fast becoming the foremost demands of the nations of the world.	امروز آرام آرام، اراده عمومی ملت ها بر تغییر و تحول اساسی در حال شکل گیری است. مطالبه تغییر و مطالبه تحول و مطالبه بازگشت به اصول انسانی به سرعت به یک مطالبه عمومی ملت ها تبدیل می شود. ..
The response to these demands must be real and true. The prerequisite to this change is a change in goals, intentions and directions.	پاسخ به این مطالبه باید حقیقی و واقعی باشد. مقدمه تحول، تحول در اهداف و نیت ها و جهت گیری ها است
If tyrannical goals are repackaged in an attractive and deceptive package and imposed on nations again, the people, awakened, will stand up against them.	اگر اهداف سلطه طلبانه با بسته بندی جدید و ظاهر زیبا و فریبنده جدید مجددا بخواهد بر ملت ها تحمیل شود؛ بیداری ملت ها در مقابل آنها خواهد ایستاد
Fortunately, today, as crises and despair multiply, a wave of hope is gathering momentum. Hope for a brighter future and hope for the establishment of justice, hope for real peace, hope for finding virtuous and pious rulers who love the people and want to serve them – and this is what the Almighty has promised.	خوشبختانه امروز به موازات تشدید بحران ها و تشدید یاس آفرینی ها، یک موجی از امید در حال رشد و نمو است؛ امید به آینده روشن، امید به برپایی عدالت، امید به صلح واقعی و امید به دستیابی به حاکمان صالح وپاک و عاشق مردم و خدمتگزار مردم و این همان وعده الهی است .
We believe, Jesus Christ will return, together with one of the children of the revered Messenger of Islam and will lead the world to love, brotherhood and justice. The responsibility of all followers of Christ and Abrahamic faiths is to prepare the way for the fulfilment of this divine promise and the arrival of that joyful, shining and wonderful age.	ما معتقدیم حضرت مسیح به همراه فرزندی از پیامبر گرامی اسلام خواهد آمد و جهان را به نقطه مطلوب یعنی دنیای سرشار از عشق و برادری و عدالت رهنمون خواهد ساخت و ماموریت همه پیروان مسیح و پیروان ادیان ابراهیمی، حرکت در این جهت و زمینه سازی برای تحقق وعده الهی و آن دوران شیرین و دوست داشتنی است. .
I hope that the collective will of nations will unite in the not too distant future and with the grace of the Almighty Lord, that shining age will come to rule the earth.	امیدوارم اراده جمعی ملت ها با همگرایی در آینده نه چندان دور به تحقق بپیوندد و با عنایت خداوند متعال آن دوران درخشان بر جامعه بشری حاکم بشود
