Georgian State Television to begin new Russian language channel

Georgian State Television has announced that it is preparing to begin a Russian television channel in order to reach viewers in the Caucasus.
According to news from the journal Rezonansi, State Television General Manager Gia Chanturia said that work on the new channel was in progress but that they had not yet decided on the format.
Chanturia said that it was not yet clear when the new channel would begin broadcasting, but that they were considering of pilot programs to broadcast for the first step.
Authorities have said that costs for the new channel would be met by the state budget.
Georgian State Television currently broadcasts over two television and two radio stations.
