Learning Korean through music: 새 by 자우림

A post from another site of mine that I originally wrote on 2004.01.23. No YouTube video seems to be available for this. Remember, the translation is done as literally as possible, in order to help the student.

Original post from 2004:

This is a sad song...sounded a little like The Cranberries when I first heard it.

Song lyrics

Tears fall like rain and I can't see in front of me
My chest hursts
And I can't even breathe
Why, why is it this way?
Here's a dead bird as a present for you (x2)
My chest hurts
Here's a dead bird as a present for you

My circuit(s) are closed
That's right, I'm ruined now
Here's a heart burnt in flames as a present for you
Here's a burnt heart as a present for you

You ruined everything
I ruined myself
I ruined us

Here's a dead me as a present for you

Thanks for the wound you gave me

Thank you thank you thank you, here's a bleeding bird as a present for you (x2)
Thank you thank you...

I think "hwaero" here is 'circuit,' not 'brazier' which would be hwaro instead. Circuit makes more sense also.
