World Cup viewership in the United States: 15.5 million English, 8.8 million Spanish
Thursday, July 15, 2010
This article provides a set of unsurprising numbers, showing that interest in soccer/football per capita is higher among the Spanish-speaking population in the US. With some 254 million people with English as their mother tongue and 33 million with Spanish, that gives:
English: one viewer per 16 people
Spanish: one viewer per 3.75 people
Total viewership was also up 41% over the last World Cup.
