-- French and Italian together: a little test I created this morning from that six-language 'polyglot manual' from the late 19th century, using only French and Italian and with each link to Google Translate's manufactured voice. Not bad, not sure if worth the time it takes though.

-- Gale Crater on Mars: it's located right here. As is often the case, it's tough to visualize just where a rover or other craft is on another body, especially one without oceans. One interesting way to do it though is to simply transpose the coordinates to a location on Earth: the location then would be 138 degrees east and 5 degrees south, so somewhere close to Indonesia.

-- New York Times article on the revival of the Siletz language, which I had never heard of before.
