Georgia takes steps to leave the Commonwealth of Independent States

Gürcistan, eski Sovyet ülkelerinden oluşan ve Rusya'nın liderlik yaptığı Bağımsız Devletler Topluluğundan (BDT), ayrıldığını kuruluşa resmen bildirdi.

The former Soviet country of Georgia has officially informed the Russian-led Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) that it will be separating.

BDT'nin merkezi Minsk'te bulunan icra kurulunun temsilcisi Vera Yakubovskaya, "Gürcistan'dan, BDT'den ayrıldığına ilişkin resmi bir yazı aldıklarını" söyledi.

Vera Yakubovskaya, a representative from the executive committee of the CIS in its centre in Minsk, said that "they have received an official letter from Georgia that they will be withdrawing from the CIS."

Yakubovskaya, BDT'nin gönüllülük üzerine kurulu bir örgüt olduğunu hatırlatarak, her ülkenin topluluk içinde kalma ya da ayrılma kararını kendisinin verdiğini kaydetti.

Yakubovskaya reminded that the CIS is a voluntary organization and that each country makes its own decision on whether to remain in the organization or leave it.

Bir BDT yetkilisi de, Gürcistan'ın, 700'den fazla BDT anlaşma ve paktının katılımcısı olduğunu, dolayısıyla teknik konularda düzenlemeler yapılabilmesi için resmi olarak 12 ay daha BDT'ye dahil olmayı sürdüreceğini belirtti.

Another CIS authority said that Georgia had over 700 CIS agreements and pacts it had subscribed to, and that to officially take care of technical issues it would continue to be in the CIS for another 12 months.

Gürcistan, Güney Osetya nedeniyle Rusya ile arasında çıkan silahlı çatışmanın adından BDT'den ayrılacağını açıklamıştı. Gürcü meclisi, ayrılma kararını 14 Ağustos'ta oybirliğiyle onaylamıştı.

Georgia announced that it would separate from the CIS after the armed conflicts between it and Russia as a result of South Ossetia. The Georgian parliament unanimously approved the decision to separate on the 14th of August.

Bağımsız Devletler Topluluğunda Rusya ve Gürcistan dışında Azerbaycan, Ermenistan, Belarus, Kazakistan, Kırgızistan, Moldova, Rusya, Tacikistan, Türkmenistan, Özbekistan ve Ukrayna yer alıyor.

Besides Russia and Georgia, the Commonwealth of Independent States includes Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine.
